How To Get The That’s with a “T” Achievement

If you have played Mafia Wars for any length of time you know that there are many achievements that you can accomplish within the game. Some are so easy that you do not even have to think about it, others are a bit more difficult, and some are very difficult. Then there is one that is literally a pain in the butt.  The achievement that I am talking about is “That’s with a “T.”

To accomplish this achievement you must deposit $1 Trillion dollars in the bank in one fell swoop. The first time I tried this one I forgot about the bank’s cut and failed so do not forget. In order to accomplish the achievement you will need a total of $1,111,111,111,112 on hand to account for the bank’s 10% fee.

You might think that the best way to accomplish this is by purchasing huge amounts of real estate, but you would be wrong. Yes owning a few hundred Mega Casinos as well as loads of other properties will help but actually not the best way to go about it.

The easiest way to accomplish this achievement is by smacking around Agostino Cleto. This is the boss found in the Enforcer tier.

The reason that this boss is the key to completing That’s with a “T” is because he is the only boss or aspect of Mafia Wars that scales according to your cash on hand.

Here are a few examples.

Cash on Hand: $0
Risk: $0
Payout: $120,000

Cash on Hand: $500,000
Risk: $2,700
Payout: $120,000

Cash on Hand: $1,000,000
Risk: $5,400
Payout: $120,000

The payout seemed to stay the same until I had $1 Billion on hand. Note that it may have changed earlier but I didn’t check back until I had a Billion on hand

Cash on Hand: $1 Billion
Risk: $5,454,000
Payout: $1,818,000

Cash on Hand: $5 Billion
Risk: $27,054,000
Payout: $9,018,000

Cash on Hand: $10 Billion
Risk: $54,054,000
Payout: $18,018,000

Cash on Hand: $15 Billion
Risk: $81, 054,000
Payout: 27,018,000

As you can see from these examples the payout increases proportionately to the amount of cash you have on hand. Of course the amount that you risk increases as well, but that is the price you have to pay for smacking around a boss.

The costs involved in fighting Agostino Cleto other than monetary are a 16 mafia requirement, if you have a copy of the Ultimate Mafia Wars Leveling guide this will not be a problem since your mafia should be well into the thousands, and energy.

I am not saying that buying properties is a bad way to get this achievement accomplished, but doing a little wet work on a boss makes it so much easier and quicker.

To Twink Or Not To Twink

26
Sep/09

Let me start off by explaining the word “Twink.” Twink or Twinking is the process of obtaining items and equipment for a character that they could never have gotten at their level of expertise. The process of twinking has been around for many years, actually as long as there have been online games and the argument of twinking vs. non-twinking as been around just as long.

One side believes that giving a character items far and above their level is just fine since in most cases they have already paid the price of leveling and obtaining superior items once and should not have to do it again. The other side believes that twinking should not be allowed at all. The non-twink camp is usually but not always made up of people who do not have a higher level character and are getting there butts handed to them in PvP.

This ongoing argument has lead many gaming companies to attach level requirements to the drop items in their games. Fortunately for us this has not been the case in Mafia Wars or other Zynga games.

Just for fun I decided to start a brand spanking new character in Mafia Wars and turn him into a terror from day one. I have not yet started recruiting a mafia for him because I want him to be completely ready.

He was created over a week ago and I have not started the leveling process as yet because I want him to be ready to rock when I begin the process. He should be ready to start next week.

Over the last week or so I have been using more than a dozen other accounts to start feeding him items and consumables. I will start playing him when he has the following.

501 – Canonazo
501 – Armored State Car

Once these numbers are reached I will begin recruiting. First I will recruit select people to fill top mafia positions giving this character the best start possible. Other items I will have before I begin will be ample Politico Corrupto, Blackmail Photos, Illegal Transaction Records, Untraceable Cell Phone, Computer Set-up, and any other consumable that I can think of since I do not want to spend time farming them.

Doing all of the preliminary work with my other accounts will give this character a distinct advantage over other players his own level. How much of an advantage? Honestly I cannot give you an answer here because this is the first time I have tried this in Mafia Wars. Only time will tell if this character will become the hitlist monster that I am hoping for

Twinking works in many other games and I am quite sure that it can work in Mafia Wars as well. If you want to give it a whirl create a new character and begin feeding it all of the high level items that you can. Once you have 501 of the best offensive and defensive items start recruiting your mafia, but do it selectively. The first people you should recruit are those that you know will give you the highest bonus in your Top Mafia. Once you have them in place you can go on a recruiting binge. Do not start attacking others until you have at least 500 mafia and you should have a distinct advantage over most players your own level due to your advanced equipment.

All Aboard for Moscow

Well ladies and gentlemen it seems that Mafia Wars Moscow is upon us.

As you may have read in earlier articles I just cannot wait to get started in the old Soviet Republic. Unfortunately I was not on the testing team so I really cannot give you any “insider” information on this one, but to keep you as well informed as possible here is an article that was originally posted on 09-23-2009 at games.com.

Mafia Wars Moscow: Exclusive First Look!

Posted Sep 23rd 2009 6:00AM by Libe Goad @ games.com

Mafia Wars: Moscow, the second expansion to the mob-themed Facebook game Mafia Wars, lets players expand their criminal empire into brand new territory. Mafia Wars publisher Zynga gave us an exclusive sneak peek at the new expansion, set to hit a browser near you September 24.

The expansion’s basic game mechanics will remain unchanged. Score cash and experience points by taking on missions and fighting rival mafias; use the cash to buy weapons, power-ups and properties; and use the experience points to level up your mobster’s energy levels or fighting skills as you see fit.

The biggest difference in this expansion? Mafia Wars Senior Product Manager David Kahn says it will have, “a new look and feel,” and, “will be much harder than other expansions we released before, more geared to higher level players, level 70-plus.”
As soon as you arrive in Moscow, you’re forced to choose sides. Will you help the the Vory v Zakone, a group of old-school Russian mobsters, or the Mafiya, former KGB and military officers who have learned that organized crime pays far more rubles than a government job? The loot items for the missions will be different depending on which faction you go with, so choose wisely.

Also unlike the other Mafia Wars scenarios, missions will be broken down into chapters, and you will not be able to see the next set of missions until you complete a chapter and defeat the boss at the end. Players will also have to rely on friends more than before to defeat these high-powered crime lords.

As for achievements, Moscow will have six new achievements, five new businesses, six new collections and 50-plus Russian-themed weapons, armor and vehicles. Some of those specialty items will include an AK-47 type gun, specialty night-vision goggles, and of course, classic Russian nesting dolls.

Of course, we had to ask, “Why Moscow?” Kahn says in addition to Moscow’s mobbed up history, they chose the city because that’s what the fans wanted (via an online voting campaign).

The fans also picked the location for the next two Mafia Wars expansions — Asia and the Western US — but details are scarce since Zynga developers are busy asking players what features they want to see next. Now that’s what we call social gaming.
Mafia Wars Moscow launches Thursday, September 24. As they say in Russia, Увидем Вас там! (we’ll see you there).

At the time of this posting the much anticipated expansion has not yet gone live. I am saving my energy today so I can jump in as soon as it is though.
Today I borrowed and article from another writer (with full credit given of course) but rest assured I will be digging deep into the dark recesses of the Russian under world so I can get some information back to you as quick as I can.

How To Add Items To Your Wishlist … Even If You Don’t Have Them Yet

24
Sep/09
6

If you are starting off a new character to take advantage of the strategies that I teach in my Ultimate Mafia Wars Leveling guide you know that I teach advanced methods to better equip your character from day one.

There is no better way to get your hands on some hot loot than by using your wishlist. If you have followed my advice in the guide you will have started building a strong mafia from day one and the distinct advantage of doing this is that many of the players that you have recruited will already be high level and have no problem gifting some pretty nice items. The only problem is they cannot see what you need unless you put it on your wishlist.

You might think that you have to already have one of an item in order to put it on your wishlist but that just is not so. There is a really easy trick to getting items on the list and I am going to teach you that today.

Here is the process broken down into simple easy steps.

1.) Go to your loot page.
2.) Be sure that there is an empty spot on your wish list.
3.) Right click on any “Add to Wishlist”
4.) Copy the link. In Firefox it’s “Copy Link Location” and in Explorer it’s “Copy Shortcut.”
5.) Now paste the link into your browser address bar.

The link will look something like this:

http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/remote/html_server.php?xw_controller=loot&xw_exp_sig=6e13aae585a36db9d636c82b3bde7e80&xw_time=1253704025&xw_action=wishlist_add&xw_city=1&tmp=29a61aac06583de2f354fec96817769a&gift_category=1&gift_id=1

It looks like a lot of gibberish but the important bit is the last part. gift_category=1&gift_id=1

This above link is for the .22 Pistol but suppose you would really like to have the Armored State Car. All you have to do is find the item in the list below and switch the numbers. I will save you the time on this one.

The Armored State Car is gift_category=1&gift_id=183.

In your browser just change the numbers around and hit enter and the item will be on your wish list. It’s really that simple.

Here is a complete list of Mafia Wars Loot.

4 Quick Tips to Enhance Your Mafia Wars Experience

22
Sep/09
2

There is no doubt that Mafia Wars by Zynga has become one of, if not the most popular social network game in the world today. It can be found on most social networks as well as the iPhone and is enjoyed by millions of players each and every day. It is to say the least …addicting, but in a good way.

Other than loving Mafia Wars, what do you think that the majority of the millions of daily players have in common? I can tell you exactly what it is. The thing that they have in common is the lack of any type of plan to succeed. Today I am going to give you a taste of success with a 4 step plan that will put you on the right track to becoming a strong and powerful player.

Step 1 – Plan for Success

If you are going to succeed in Mafia Wars and not shuffle along with the masses you need a plan of action. You need to set goals and work toward them. Are you going to be an all energy leveling dynamo? Are you going to be more of a kick ass and take names kind of player?

Either way you need to plan ahead. You need to determine how you are going to spend skill points, how you are going to use Godfather Points, etc. You also need to set a play schedule.

The schedule that I use and found to work out best is a 3 per day approach. I log on in the morning and get everything done that I need to. I tend to my businesses and property, accept and send invites, accept and send gifts, play the lottery, and finally crank out some jobs. I have to be careful with the jobs part since I rarely if ever need to wait for energy I can go all day in one sitting. I log off and go about my business. Around noon I log in again and again in the evening. This keeps me from getting burnt out.

Step 2 – Mafia Building 101

A team is only as strong it’s your weakest member. Sure you can crank out 500 mafia members in a day or two…but is that really what you want? Yes I can teach you how to have a mafia at maximum size in a few days but I would rather teach you to build your mafia intelligently.

Build you mafia at a steady pace but only when you can equip them. Bare knuckles do not fare well against those with real firepower.

If you want to learn more about the quick way to build your mafia as well as the intelligent method grab a copy of my Ultimate Mafia Wars Leveling Guide.

Step 3 – The Sacred Cash Cow

No business can survive without an influx of cash and even though the legality of an organized crime family is questionable it is most definitely a business. To get the cash flowing you need to buy real estate, but not just any old real estate.

Buy as many Mafia Mike’s as you can afford and keep buying them as you recruit more mafia. Of all of the available properties (other than lots) only Mafia Mike’s cannot be robbed.

Step 4 – Equipment, Equipment, Equipment

To beat the best in the business you are going to need the best equipment in the business. One of the best places to look for great equipment is right on the front page of Mafia Wars itself. Take a look under Limited Time Offers. On the left side you will find a limited time item that does not require any Godfather Points. These items are very nice for the beginning player to use to bolster their equipment.

DO NOT use Godfather Points to purchase equipment. The reason I say this is two fold. First, since these points are purchased with real money you could go broke trying to get 501 of the item and second, there are better items in the game.

Equipment is another reason to take mafia building at a slower pace. Grabbing tons of new players is not going to build a powerful mafia from day one. They are in the same boat that you are…no equipment. What’s In a Name?

While this post won’t help you speed through levels or earn billions of dollars over night, it will give you some insight into naming your character from an experienced player.

I have been playing Mafia Wars since it first arrived and have discovered a few things along the way that you might be interested in. Some of the things I have discovered are how to level like a mad man, how earn billions faster than greased lightning, how to win just about every fight I am involved in, how to work the hitlist like a predator instead of prey, and many others. Grab a copy of my Ultimate Mafia Wars Leveling guide for all of that.

Today I am going to give you some insight on names and what they can reveal or hide.

The title that appears in front of your name is based on the level of jobs that you have mastered. You will not have access to the full range until you are around level 150. You can use the names to somewhat hide behind.

For instance if you are the type of player who does not attack others and wishes not to be attacked in return keep your title low. Street Thug is the lowest and while you will get attacked wearing this title it does somewhat lessen the chance. After all who really wants to boast that they kicked a street thug’s butt when a higher title sounds so much better?

If you are a fan of being attacked for experience reasons use the highest title you can. The higher the title the more attention it seems to attract.

The part after your name is your character type. The types are Fearless, Maniac, and Mogul. This lets everyone know what position your character can fill in Top Mafia. You cannot change type at this time unfortunately. Zynga has alluded to the fact that this may change in the future but its pretty much all rumors at this point.

Now for the name itself, you can choose anything that you like. Zynga asks that you keep it clean but in my time I have come across some quite raunchy names. We all know that some names attract more attention than others. Some names just seem to beg to be attacked, but that just might be the plan. Earning experience from attacks is a way to advance in the game.

Then there are names that set me off. Usually it’s something like “Illwhipyourarse” or something similar. First I am a fair minded person and names that violate or come close to violating common decency set me off. I am much more likely to attack someone who uses a taunting name than someone with an everyday one. I am also MUCH more likely to attack someone with a vulgar name than a taunting name. Hey that’s just me, you play anyway that you want to.

Naming involves three parts. The first part is your title which you have control over and can change at will as you master tiers. The second part is your actual name and can only be changed by spending Godfather points. Last but not least is your character type and at this time you cannot change it. When naming your character follow Zynga’s request that you it be something acceptable. Also realize that there are players who sometimes attack based on the name alone.

Add All Friends – A Super Fast Automated Way To Add Mafia Members

Have you ever watched a nature show on Discover, The Learning Channel, or another television station? I am sure you have and I am sure that you have seen how many prey animals run in herds. Do you know why the do that? They have been conditioned for thousands of years to understand that there is safety in numbers.

Ok before I get rambling about the cute little zebras let me get back to the point. I have told you in many articles that you need to have a large strong mafia to be a contender in the Mafia Wars world and it’s true. Safety in numbers is the law of the concrete jungle in New York and the tropical jungle in Cuba just like it is on the African plains.

I have told you how to build your mafia to staggering numbers in just a few days and it’s easily done. If you have taken my advice on mafia and mafia size and given my methods a spin you have found it to be easy yet a pain at the same time.

First you either have to go to an email “add me” list and cut and paste the list, then send the email list out. You have also most likely added you name at one of the many add me groups where you just post an “add me” message. If you are using all of my methods you have also joined some of the larger Mafia Wars groups and manually clicked on group members and invited them the old fashioned way.

Second you have to sift through all of the requests that come to your account and approve the friends. This can be a long painful process if you have just been on a mass recruiting binge and invited a few thousand people. Of course Facebook doesn’t make it any easier since they don’t allow you to open invites in a separate tab. That is something that they really need to fix for all games.

Finally you discover that you can only invite a set number of people from the Mafia Wars interface per day. What a bummer.

With these three hurdles in the way I thought that it would take forever to build my mafia the first time that I did it, but I learned to speed the process up through trial and error and the help of a few tools.

Today I am going to let you in a tool that I use to build my mafia at blazing speed. The tool I use is called “Add All Friends V.2.3.” All you have to do is have this tool on your browser bar and click it when you are on the “my mafia” page, the one where the window on the left has all of the names of your friends who are not in your mafia already. When you are on that page click the Add All Friends button and the tool will go to work adding members to your mafia one after the other.

It will open a number of other browsers behind the one you are in and use them to automatically add members. It will add all of the friends who play Mafia Wars and leave those behind that do not. Stay on the page until it is done and you will have grown your mafia very quickly.

This tool can be found at http://echk.com/mw/

If by chance that page is not up there is another version called “Add All” at Vern’s Mafia Wars Tools.

Spockholm Mafia Wars toolsis another great site for some cool tools to use.

Each of these pages has some great tools that will make your life in Mafia Wars much easier by automating many of the functions that you perform manually every day.

Prey animals have learned over the centuries that safety in numbers is important to survival. The same thing applies to Mafia Wars. If you are tired of being prey learn how to grow your mafia fast. Use automation to ease the cramps you get from sending thousands of friend invites, approving friends, and sending in game Mafia Wars invites. Most social networks and Zynga have made it difficult to invite thousands of players quickly, now you can have to tools to work around them.

5 Basic Tips To Mafia Wars Dominance

Mafia Wars is one of the most popular browser based games on the internet today. Zynga has a hit with this one and literally millions of people play every day. With this kind of success and millions of daily players look for Zynga to continue to improve the game and make it more user friendly.

Zynga keeps improving Mafia Wars but do you keep improving as a player. Do you use every angle you can to become a better player or do you drudge along day after day completing a few missions and then logging off until tomorrow? When I first started playing I did the same thing. But over time I discovered exactly how to play the game instead of letting it play me. I learned how to set the pace and play when I wanted to…as much as I wanted to.

Here are a few tips that will let you turn Mafia Wars into a game that you will love even more than you do now.

1.) THERE ARE NO “CHEATS

This is the first thing that you need to realize. There may be thousands of sites advertising cheats for Mafia Wars but in reality there are no cheats. Any loophole in the game is quickly fixed by Zynga more often than not before you can use it. Not to mention that that making use of a flaw in the game actually violates the ToS and you can be banned.

2.) Its ALL about strategy

Dominating Mafia Wars does not require some magical formula that only a few can understand. To be one of the top players all you have to do is devise a strategy and follow it. You cannot jump from one thing to another and hope to succeed.

3.) Skill Point Allocation

Distribute all of your skill points efficiently. Distribution of points is in my opinion the most important part of Mafia Wars. This goes back to number 2. Have a clear goal in mind when you are spreading those points around. There are different point strategies to use depending on exactly what you want to do with the character.  A character that zooms through the levels and one that dominates the hitlist need to distribute the points differently.

4.) Godfather Points

Spending Godfather points is another part of strategy. There are many things that you can do with these points and they will affect how your character is played. The only thing I spend Godfather points on is skill upgrade points, the rest is just a bunch of crap. The rewards in the crates are worse than the items you can find in the game naturally and the full refills are simply a waste of points.

5.) Mafia Expansion & Equipment

Build your mafia but use common sense. Sure, there are ways to grow your mafia to 500 in 24 hours and to thousands in a couple of day, but do you really want to do that? Grow your mafia at a rate that you can handle in equipping them. What use is a 3000 player mafia if all you can equip them with is bare knuckles?

If you truly want to dominate Mafia Wars you need to realize that there are no cheats to do it, develop a strategy and follow it, distribute your skill points efficiently, don’t waste Godfather points on crap, and grow your mafia as you can equip them. Being the best is not something that is going to happen over night. Building a strong, well equipped, and wealthy character takes time and dedication.

Mafia Wars – A Guide to the Most Profitable Jobs

Zynga’s Mafia Wars is one of the most popular games on just about every social network. Though some may think it is simplistic and not as exciting as the online MMO games like World of Warcraft, Warhammer, or others 5 million players per day cannot be wrong. It’s a hit.

I design my articles to help players who want to accomplish something in Mafia Wars. They have covered a great range of subjects including energy management, property management, etc, and today I am going to give you a quick list of the best money making opportunities per tier.

Doing jobs is not the most efficient way to earn cash in Mafia Wars but for those of you who are more money minded and less concerned with speed leveling this list will prove invaluable.

Cash awards in Mafia Wars are somewhat random in that there is no set amount at any level.  For instance I have done “Make Arrangements for a Visiting Don” from the New York Boss Tier and earned the minimum amount, then clicked do job again and earned the maximum amount. I may be wrong, and please correct me if I am,  but it seems that Zynga uses a completely random amount per job.

The list below contains the best paying jobs per tier along with the range of cash you can expect to earn.

Street Thug Tier

Collect on a Loan ($2,300 – $5,750)

Associate Tier

Jewelry Store Job ($5,750 – $17,250)

Soldier Tier

Museum Break-In ($55,200 – $82,800)

Enforcer Tier

Run Illegal Poker Game ($690,000 – $1,150,000)

Hitman Tier

Exterminate a Rival family ($3,450,000 – $6,900,000)

Capo Tier

Whack a Rival Crew Leader ($1,725,000 – $2,760,000)

Consigliere Tier

Ransom a Businessman’s Kid ($5,462,500 – $9,775,000)

Underboss Tier

Order a Hit on a Public Official ($7,475,000 – $15,410,000)

Boss Tier

Make Arrangements for a Visiting Don ($57,500,000 – $97,750,000)

El Soldado Tier

Assault A Snitch’s Hideout (C$1,615 – C$2,090)

El Capitan Tier

Burn Down Hacienda (C$2,382 – C$3,082)

El Jefe Tier

Take Over The Docks (C$3,197 – C$4,137)

El Patron Tier

Assassinate An Opposing Consigliere (C$3,909 – C$5,059)

El Padrino Tier

Set Up A High Volume Smuggling Operation (C$5,388 – C$6,806)

El Cacique Tier

Take Over the Havana Reconstruction (C$6,052 – C$7,832)

Earning cash in Mafia Wars is not difficult; in fact it couldn’t be easier. For those of you who have dollar signs in their eyes use this simple list to maximize your cash flow, but don’t forget to invest all of that money in properties and businesses. Cash is easy to come by but you need to put it to the best use possible.
