Moscow Mastery – The Ultimate Mafia Wars Moscow Guide

Today I’ve got something that should help you out immensely with getting through Moscow as quick as possible. I’ve decided to write this complete guide to Moscow which you can keep as your own personal aid and refer back to whenever you don’t know what to do next or just want to get through the game as quick as possible.

I had originally planned to sell this guide for $30 or so but I felt I’d serve everyone a lot better to just give it away for free, as I love to see others having so much fun playing Mafia Wars, winning fights with ease and blasting past their friends in leveling speed.

Without further ado, here’s the guide…

Getting to Moscow

First things first so let’s learn how to get to Moscow in the first place.

The minimum level requirement for travel to Moscow is level 70. If you are under this level you can technically travel there but all you will see is the greeting screen. You will not get the achievement for going there or be awarded your first business.

If you meet the minimum level requirement then you simply  mouseover the travel menu at the top center of the page and click on Moscow.

Earning R$

Moscow is just like the Cuba expansion in that your New York American Dollars do not carry over and you must earn pesos (C$) while on the island. Russia uses Rubles (R$) and works exactly the same as in Cuba.

Upon arrival you will be given your first business:

Unlicensed Taxi Stand

Capacity: 800
Output: 100 every 3 hours

To begin earning R$ you must complete jobs and / or fight other players.

Game Play

Mafia Wars Moscow has the exact same game play mechanics as both the original game and the Cuba expansion. The big difference is in how progression works.

In New York and Cuba you can skip around job tiers as long as you meet the level requirements for each tier. It does not work that way in Moscow. Moscow progression is a linear path, you must complete one episode before you can begin another.

A new feature in Moscow that I am quite impressed with is the ability to ask for help on certain jobs. This differs from New York and Cuba in that not only will you gain experience by asking for help those who answer the call actually help you complete the job mastery bar. When many respond you can nearly complete the mastery level in one or 2 clicks.

Moscow Businesses

As I stated above when you arrive in Moscow you will be given an Unlicensed Taxi Stand to start your business enterprises. More businesses become available as you progress through the episodes. These Include

  • Cigarette Smuggling Ring
  • Black-Market Car Lot
  • Munitions Trading Camp
  • Trafficking Operation
  • And Others

One thing that you will notice rather quickly is that Moscow businesses are very expensive to upgrade. This is much like it was back in Cuba but money is a bit more plentiful in Moscow. Even though money is bigger it will still be very tight for quite some time since the items that you need for jobs are much more expensive as well.

Consumables Needed for Jobs

Moscow is no different than any other part of Mafia Wars…you will need consumables and lots of them. Here is a list of some of the consumables that you will need in Moscow

  • Untraceable Cell Phone (New York Item but also drop from Moscow Jobs)Moscow Jobs:
Episode 1 – Arrange A Drug Shipment for the Mafiya
  • Concealable Camera (See above)Moscow Jobs:
Episode 1 – Smuggle Consumer Electronics for the Vory
  • Dossier on Dimitri
  • Set of Photos of Karpov

If you have not reached level 70 yet you might want to start building up a good supply of untraceable cell phones and concealable cameras in New York with any spare energy that you have. It will make life a bit easier in the great white north.

Moscow Collections

Collections are a big part of the game and since Zynga has given us the ability to re-vault items for boosts they are even more important.

Here are some screen shots of the collections from the Moscow Expansion. Since they are screenshots they are copyright Zynga.

Picking a Side in Moscow

Unlike Cuba or New York you will have to pick a side in Moscow. There are two competing factions, the Vory V Zakone and the Mafiya. Each group has their own history and advantages and disadvantages.

Vory V Zakone

Mafia Wars Moscow is the new expansion from Zynga and is one of the hottest new releases in the gaming industry. While gaming on social networks may not receive the massive publicity and attention that MMO (Massively Multi-Player Online) games benefit from, they are none the less one of the most popular types of games in the world today.

The Moscow expansion presents the player with access to Russia but forces them to choose sides between the Russian Mafiya and the Vory V Zakone. I was always taught to make an informed choice and I am passing that on to you by offering a bit of detail on each group. Yesterday we learned about the Mafiya and today I will give you some background on the Vory V Zakone.

Vory V Zakone translates into “Thieves in Law”, and organization that is arguably the elite of the Russian organized crime world.

There have been criminals in areas of Russia and the former USSR for centuries, but during the Russian Revolution of 1917 these criminal elements became more powerful and were known collectively as vorovskoy mir or “thieves’ world”.

After the revolution of 1917 the Soviet Union was brought back into order and the People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs or NKVD nearly brought the criminal element to its knees by imprisoning or killing most of them. However those who were sent into the Russian gulag became galvanized and arose as what we now know as the vory v zakone.

Like their cousins the Mafiya, vory v zakone flourished following the breakup of the Soviet Union by infiltrating the top political and economic areas of Russia and the post-Soviet countries. Members of the group are given title by other members and in order to remain in their appointed position of power must abide by the code. The penalty for ignoring the code can be at best mutilation and at worst death.

The Thief’s Code

1.) Forsake his relatives–mother, father, brothers, sisters.
2.) Not have a family of his own — no wife, no children; this does not however, preclude him from having a lover.
3.) Never, under any circumstances work, no matter how much difficulty this brings-, live only on means gleaned from thievery.
4.) Help other thieves — both by moral and material support, utilizing the commune of thieves.
5.) Keep secret information about the whereabouts of accomplices (i.e. dens, districts, hideouts, safe apartments, etc.).
6.) In unavoidable situations (if a thief is under investigation) to take the blame for someone else’s crime; this buys the other person time of freedom.
7.) Demand convocation of inquiry for the purpose of resolving disputes in the event of a conflict between oneself and other thieves, or between thieves.
8.) If necessary, participate in such inquiries.
9.) Carry out the punishment of the offending thief as decided by the convocation.
10.) Not resist carrying out the decision of punishing the offending thief who is found guilty, with punishment determined by the convocation.
11.) Have good command of the thieves’ jargon (”Fehnay”).
12.) Not gamble without being ability to cover losses.
13.) Teach the trade to young beginners.
14.) Have, if possible, informants from the rank and file of thieves.
15.) Not lose your reasoning ability when using alcohol.
16.) Have nothing to do with the authorities (particularly with the ITU, Correctional Labor Authority), not participate in public activities, nor join any community organizations.
17.) Not take weapons from the hands of authorities; not serve in the military.
18.) Make good on promises given to other thieves.

The vory v zakone live and die by the code.

The vory v zakone have been in existence since the early 20th century but criminal activity has been distributed throughout the Russia and the regions, countries, and territories which made up the former USSR for centuries. These elements became the vory v zakone following the revolution of 1917 and began in the Soviet gulag system.  The vory live and die by the Thief’s Code.

The Russian Mafiya

When venturing to new and exciting areas is it always best to learn a bit about the area and the major players who are vying for control before diving in. Today we will learn a bit about the Mafiya.

In Russia the terms Russkaya Mafiya, Krasnaya Mafiya, and Bravata are often translated as Mafiya. These three organized crime syndicates all originate in the old USSR and since its collapse in the fall of 1991 they have amassed considerable influence and a worldwide power base.

Organized crime has been part of Russian history since the time of Imperial Russia and the Tsars. During the early days they criminal aspect was made up of bandits and thieves known as Vory v Zakone or “Thieves in Law” (more on them later in this article series).

In the 1990’s during the fall of the Soviet Union the country was economically devastated and thus the criminal element flourished. KGB agents, war veterans, and others found themselves in high demand. They had knowledge in areas that proved very useful in criminal organizations.

In the late 90’s the now “westernized” criminal element was solidified by Semion Mogilevich into what we now know as the Mafiya. Gone was the code of honor that had been the foundation of Russian organized crime and tradition was set aside. The Russian Mafiya was all but a clone of its western counterpart, though a quite vicious clone it was.

Semion Mogilevich was a very powerful and dangerous man. In fact the FBI considered him the “Boss of all Bosses” controlling most of the Russian Mafiya syndicates world wide, and the most powerful crime boss in the world. More powerful even than those from the Sicilian, New York, Triad, and all other world wide gangs.

As criminal organizations go it would seem that the Russian Mafiya has its fingers in just about any criminal activity that one might imagine. Arms trafficking, blackmailing, bombings, charity fraud, computer hacking, identity theft, murder, extortion, and prostitution are but a few of these activities.

The Mafiya is made up of criminal elements from the KGB, Soviet Military, and many other areas of the former Soviet Union. The new Mafiya differs from its counterpart the Vory v Zakone in that it does not honor the old traditions and codes of honor and conduct for its members. The Mafiya is as cold blooded as they come and are much like its western counterparts.

Who Should You Join?

The choice that must be made is between joining the modern Russian Mafiya or the more traditional Vory v Zakone. The big question that all players seem to have is which faction is better? This is a question that Zynga is very little help on since there really is not any detailed information about either. After reading this article you will be a bit more informed and will be able to use the knowledge to make a more informed choice.

Many people have said that it makes no difference which faction you choose however there are differences between them. Once forced to choose a side players discover that many things are different. Rewards, loot, and experience vs. energy ratio are the important things.

Purely going off the loot you receive for each faction here are the sides I’d pick for each episode:

Episode 1 – Baklany – Mafiya – They have the Molotok Pistol which is better than the Cherepakha in defense and the Cherepakha is outclassed by most vehicles in Cuba.

Episode 2 – Boets – Mafiya – The loot is pretty similar but the Vory need 40 more concealable cameras to get through their missions (which takes a while).

Episode 3 – Brigadir – Mafiya – The Volk Luxury Sedan has half decent defense and is only -8 points less defense than the best defensive vehicle in the game. While the Vory’s loot is the Taiga Combat Shotgun whose attack is -11 less than the best attacking weapon in the game.

Episode 4 – Avtoritet – Vory – The Shturmovik is currently the best offensive armor in the game and the Mafiya require 62 more untraceable cell phones.

Episode 5 – Vor – Either – The Ubijca Assault Rifle which is a vor only weapon is currently the best weapon in the game but is only +1 attack over TNT / Canonazo. The Klyk-9 is +8 more defense than the current best defensive weapon but is bested by the Zmeya Carbon Blade in episode 6.

Episode 6 – Go the opposite to Episode 5 – The Zmeya Carbon Blade is fantastic if you picked Vor in Episode 5 and missed out on the Klyk-9. If you picked Mafiya in Episode 5 go Vor as the Konstantin Cargo Carrier is currently the best vehicle in the game and there is little point in getting the Blade as it is only slightly better than the Klyk-9 from episode 5.

Conclusion

My goal in this guide was not to take you by the hand and lead you through the snow in Moscow. It was to give you solid information that will give you the ability to make informed decisions on your own.

I hope this guide has helped you immensely and feel free to share it around by clicking the share buttons below or telling a friend or two who is struggling to get through Moscow right now

101 Incredible Mafia Wars Tips

18
Aug/09
31

Mafia Wars has taken social networking by storm and seems to have the potential of become the “World of Warcraft” of the social scene. The Mafia Wars craze is running wild with a player base that is quickly exceeding more than 11 million players.

Here are 101 Mafia Wars Tips that you can use to improve your character, pull down the big cash and win every fight.

If you’re looking for even more advanced strategies you can’t find anywhere else, check out the Mafia Wars Black Book

Getting Started

1.) What’s in a name?

Everyone wants to have their own unique personality evening a game like Mafia Wars but it can be done in a tasteful manner. Using names that have profanity, hate, sexism, innuendo, etc. may eventually cause your account to be banned …so much for Mafia Wars.

2.) Picking a Character Type

  • Mogul – Earns money faster
  • Maniac – Regains energy faster
  • Fearless – Regains health faster

3.) The Best Type to Play

Like all character based games they all have their strengths and weaknesses. If you want to level quickly the best choice is the Fearless type. I can hear the groans and whining now but hear me out and you may think differently.

Even though the Maniac regenerates energy faster and might leap ahead of the Fearless class early, in the long run the Maniac will see nothing but tail lights as Fearless charges by. That is because once a Fearless type is put into the Wheelman position (which only they can be in) of a mafia they gain the ability to occasionally pay ZERO energy for a job. When we say occasionally it’s usually 3 – 5 times per level. This is where Fearless will out pace Maniac.

4.) Energy, Energy, Energy

If you want to powerlevel super quick you should be dumping their points into nothing but energy until around level 200. This is true even with the Fearless type. The energy reduction benefit that Fearless gives is based on their level and early on energy is everything to all types. If you want to build a stronger character you can point puts in attack and defense early on but it’ll be a lot slower to level.

5.) Attack and Defense

Unless you plan on beating your head against the wall over and over and knocking your self silly by attacking all the time be very sparing on the points in these until after level 200. Then start slamming points into attack and defense. By that time you should have a full 501 members in your mafia and be very well equipped.

6.) Health

This stat is all but useless since you have access to healing just about anytime you want it. If you want to get the bulletproof achievement go for it, otherwise don’t waste points here.

7.) Stamina

Start looking at this stat when you have decided that it is time to start on the offense and start fighting.

Banking

8.) Don’t bother keeping your cash in the bank if you are level 50 or lower. Here is why.

Let’s say you are working out the tier at the Consigliere level. It will take around 300 jobs to complete and at roughly $5 million per job you would earn $1.5 billion. If you deposit that amount into the bank at 10% banking fee you are paying $150 million dollars. Since the most that you can lose in any single fight is $100,000 you would have to lose 1,500 fights to save money by banking.

Not many people in the GAME have lost 1,500 fights so what are the chances you will before you notice it.

9.) Banking in Cuba

Cuba is a completely different story. Money there is pretty scarce and you can still lose up to 100,000 in a fight. When in Cuba use the bank regularly.

Buying Property

10.) Buy Property in Blocks of Ten

When possible buy property in blocks of ten to save money. Take abandoned lots for instance. If abandoned lots cost $7000 each at the level you are at a block of 10 would cost $70,000. Each time you buy a property the cost goes up, if you buy a block they all at the same price. In the example here buying 10 abandoned lots one at a time would cost $115,000. Buying them in a block of 10 saves $45,000. That is just on empty lots, imagine the cost on casinos if you buy them one by one.

11.) Some properties go up in cost faster than others. Building costs go up much quicker than the cost of the lots that they sit on.

The Home Page

12.) Limited Time Offers

Keeping your mafia well equipped in very important if you want to kick ass and take names on the offense or have an impenetrable wall on defense. On the home page right under the “home” button there will be an item listed that requires a certain number of mafia. It can be a weapon or armor but it is usually pretty damned good as far as purchasable items go. Stock up on them when you can.

13.) Player Updates

Keep an eye on player updates this is where you can see if you have any rewards coming from helping your mafia. This can also be seen under notifications on Facebook but always check when you are on the home page. If you miss out you could be losing some extra cash and experience.

Earning Experience

14.) Keep a high level Fearless type in the Wheelman position on your top mafia. Ideally the player should be higher than level 299 in order to receive the maximum energy reduction of 11%.

15.) Pick jobs that give the most bang for the buck. If a job awards 49 experience points for an energy cost of 27 it is much more efficient than one that gives 5 for 5.

Using Energy Packs

16.) Using energy packs to simply level is a waste of a good energy pack.

17.) Don’t start using energy packs before level 100. If you are smart and use you head you can reach level 100 very quickly. To make full use of the power of an energy pack you need to have a large amount of energy.

18.) The best use for energy packs is to do missions that allow you to stock up on consumables such as computer setups, concealable cameras, untraceable cell phones, and the like. You are going to use a large amount of consumable to react then upper levels.

The problem is that most of the missions in which these items can be found are pretty horrible when it comes to experience versus energy usage. Using an energy pack will help a great deal when fishing for consumables.

19.) When using an energy pack to gather consumable items go into your Top Mafia and demote your Mastermind. This will let you do the jobs many more times since the object when looking for items is not leveling its doing the job over and over.

20.) Don’t forget to promote your Mastermind when you are done.

21.) Always do your most expensive and best experience job right before you hit a new level. Use energy right up until you cannot do another job without leveling then pick a big one to give you a jump on next level.

Jobs

22. The best setup to squeeze the most experience out of jobs for the least amount of energy is the following setup.

  • Top Wheelman (level 299+) for an 11% reduction on energy costs.
  • The best Mastermind (level 299+) for an 11% bonus to experience on jobs.
  • A Private Island for which gives a bonus of 5% experience on jobs for being a Master Underboss.

23.) Just because you have mastered a tier does not mean you should quit doing jobs there. Mafia Wars has a number of missions that requires the use of consumable goods that can only be looted from mission. You will NOT get everything that you need from mastering a tier. See above under using energy packs

24.) Look for rare items as random loot. Some jobs advertise that there is a chance to find rare items needed for some other jobs.

25.) Here is a quick list of rare items and where they are found

  • .22 Pistol – Beat Up Rival Gangster
  • .45 Revolver – Take Out A Rouge Cop
  • .50 Caliber Rifle – Disrupt Rival Smuggling Ring
  • 9mm Semi-Automatic – Rob A Pimp
  • Armored Car – Invade Tong-Controlled Neighborhood
  • Armored Truck – Smuggle Across The Border
  • Automatic Rifle – Bust a Made Man Out of Prison
  • Bodyguards – Protect Your City Against A Rival Family
  • Brass Knuckles – Rough Up Dealers
  • Bullet-Proof Bentley – Win 20,000 Chips In Mafia Wars Poker
  • Butterfly Knife – Collect Protection Money
  • C-4 – Destroy Enemy Mon Hideout
  • Grenade Launcher – Repel the Yakuza
  • Napalm Attack – Exterminate a Rival Family
  • Night Vision Goggles – Assassinate A Political Figure
  • RGP Launcher – Sell Guns to Russian Mob
  • Semi-Automatic Shotgun – Fight a Haitian Gang
  • Stab-Proof Vest – Kill A Protected Snitch
  • Tactical Shotgun – Perform a Hit

You may not get some of these items as you master the tiers. Chances are you will have to come back and work the missions for some time to get them all.

Fighting other Mafioso

How can you know if you will win a fight? You won’t know for sure until you try but there are some things you can do to investigate your opponent.

26.) Mafia Size

OK, this one is kind of a no-brainer but I thought I should toss it in. If your enemy has a smaller mafia than you do you have a better chance of winning, if it’s larger you will probably lose.

27.) Check the win/loss record. If a player has fought a total of 122 fights and lost 80 it basically means that they are on the losing end 67% of the time and should be fairly easy. On the other hand if they have fought 122 fights and lost only 22 they have a winning percentage of 82% and would make a hard target.

28.) Take a look at Deaths versus mobsters whacked. It’s a good bet that if a player has significantly more kills than deaths they could very well be bad news for you.

29.) Another indicator is successful heists and times robbed. If the person has never robbed anyone and been beaten up regularly they are a mark. If they have a great deal of successful heists but never been robbed…run away.

30.)  To win easy fights find a weak player and attack them repeatedly.

31.) Weak players are nice but inactive ones are gravy. Check to see if the collectables they have are old, if so chances are they are inactive. People quit the game every day but the game remains active. When you find one of these guys make note of them and you can pluck them like a chicken.

How to Deal With Being on the Hit List

If you are the kind of player who keeps their nose clean and does not attack or rob others and are happy with doing jobs chances are you will never see the Hit List. On the other hand if you are they type that likes to attack others or rob their properties eventually you will either get hit or gang attacked by the buddies of someone you have pissed off.

Here are a few tips to help beef up your defenses and maybe…just maybe survive.

32. Add more mafia. A bigger mafia means more protection.

33.) Get the best equipment that you can afford. You want to have the best armor for each of your mafia. Since only 501 can help you on any one fight you need to own 501 of the best armor and weapons that you can afford.

Now that you’ve added more mafia members (or already had 500), it’s important that they are fully equipped. You will want one weapon, armor, and vehicle for each person in your mafia. The higher the defense on the items, the better off you will be when defending your self from attacks. Here is a list of the best equipment (weapons, armor, and vehicles both bought from the shop and dropped by jobs) for defense:

34.) Best Items in the game for defense

Weapon

  • Gaff Hook – 30 defense – “Pillage a Shipyard” job in the El Jefe tier in Cuba.

Armor

  • Guerrilla Squad – 34 defense – “Supply the FRG with Some Extra Muscle” job in the El Padrino tier in Cuba

Vehicles

  • Armored State Car – 38 defense – “Storm the Presidential Palace” job in the El Padrino tier in Cuba.
  • Private Jet – 38 Defense – Dropped from jobs and fights

35.) Spend points on Defense

501 mafia and top defensive equipment are not going to be enough if you have put no points into defense. You can get extra points by vaulting collections. As a rule of thumb your defense should be equal to your level for higher survivability. You can use Godfather points to get +4 stat points if needed.

36.) Hit them hard. If you are attacking and are awarded the maximum amount of cash, $100,000 then hit them again.

37.) If robbing is your favorite activity you are most definitely a mobster and along with that distinction will come the inevitable Hit List. Most of the time you can attack people and pretty much get away with it, but hit their properties a bunch of times and you are most likely dead meat.

38.) No matter how big and bad you think you are there is always someone out there somewhere that is just a little bigger and a little more bad.
39.) If it is your goal never to be on the hit list it’s really very easily accomplished.

  1. Stick to doing jobs
  2. If you DO attack someone do it once and move to another target.
  3. NEVER rob properties

Follow those 3 rules and you will most likely never be on the Hit list.

Properties and Property Management

40.) The safest properties to own are lots of all kinds and Mafia Mike’s. Properties and Mike’s cannot be robbed.

41.) If you own properties other than those mentioned above keep them well insured.

42.) Make money with Mafia Mike’s. You can own one for every 2 members of your mafia. Grow your mafia to few thousand and you have a pretty sweet income that is not subject to roving bands of robbers. So recruit constantly.

43.) Always make sure that you have the maximum amount of Mafia Mike’s purchased before its time to collect your take. I recruit constantly but within a half hour of payout I take time out to make sure that I am full on the property.

How to Keep From Being Robbed

44.) Keep your mafia numbers equal to your level. In normal fights you and 500 of your buddies can work together to kick some butt but it’s completely different in robbery scenarios.

In robberies you may attack or defend with an amount equal to your level. When the robbers look at the list and they see less mafia than the level of the player it makes you a target.

45.) Equipment makes the difference. Your defenders are only as strong as the equipment that you give them. If you have nothing but junk, get ready to pay through the nose, but if you have top of the line stuff the robbers may have bitten off a bit more mark than they can chew

46.) Keep Leveling Up. Get out of the lower levels as quickly as possible. The higher level you are the less appetizing you will look to the sharks. Besides boss jobs pay much better than robbing and there are chances for some sweet loot.

47.) Keep your hands out of the cookie jar. If you don’t want to be robbed then don’t rob others.

48.) Win fights. There are very few stats available there are only a few tidbits of information when someone is going to rob you. They can see mafia size, if the property is protected, and standard profile stats. If they see a high win over loss ratio they are less likely to pick on you.

49.) Use smoke and mirrors. No, not magic tricks, I am talking about artificially inflating your win loss ratio. You can make it appear that you are far tougher than you are by fighting weaker people and building the wins. Call it camouflage.

50.) Don’t Hit List people, plain and simple.

51.) Always buy protection.

Weapons and Vehicles

New York Equipment

52.) Chain Gun – Since you can buy them early fill your inventory as soon as you can.

New York Weapons

53.) Body Armor – Not the greatest but beats a pinstriped suit. Most loot is better so switch it out when you can.

54.) Town Cars – +22 and there is an achievement for owning 500.

Cuban Equipment

55.) New York weapons are better than Cuban weapons at this time.

56.) Rebel Sniper armor it is +42 but increases the bribe penalty by 0.5% up to 80% max.

57.) Commercial Helicopter – Dump the town cars and replace them with these.

Mafia Wars Items you need 501 of

58.) TNT – 42 attack, 20 Defense – found in the job :”Raid the Arms Depot”, Cuban

59.) Guerrilla Squad – 34 Attack, 30 Defense – found in “Supply the FRG with Some Extra Muscle”, Cuban

60.) Armored State Car – 30 Attack, 38 Defense – found in “Storm the Presidential Palace”, Cuban

Not quite as good as the heavy stuff but better than most.

61.)

  • Aguila HV .50 Sniper Rifle +56
  • AR-15 +42
  • ASC45 “Conquistador” +54
  • Cane Knife +46
  • Gaff Hook +50
  • M16A1 +42
  • Para 322 +48
  • RA-92 +40
  • Ru-38 Pistol +44

Other half way decent equipment

62.) Armor (+45 -+63)

  • Hu-9 Helicopter +63
  • Si-14 Cargo Plane +62
  • Mini-Sub +55
  • Cigarette Boat +52
  • Armored Limousine +52
  • Montaine 320 +50
  • Private Jet +50
  • Police Cruiser +50
  • Humvee +48
  • Camouflage Body Armor +46
  • Ocelot Armored Truck +46
  • Chucho FAV +45

Gifting

63.) Finding extra items on missions is common and you can help out your other mafia members taking a look at their wish lists occasionally and giving them something on it. They will return the favor.

64.) The “Giving” achievement is earned through gifting items to other players.

Godfather Points

You should only be using Godfather points for 2 ..well maybe 3 things.
91.) Don’t waste Godfather points on crates of loot. The stuff is not that great and you can find better by doing jobs.

92.) Don’t waste points on energy refils, the +4 skill points are much better in the long run.

93.) Use Godfather points for 4 skill point upgrade when needed. Points are better than loot hands down.

94.) You can use points to change your name it the cops get too close. Or just for a change of pace.

General Tips

95.) When winning or losing fights level, loot, and equipment really make no difference but the correct use of points does.

96.) If you have a large active mafia you can earn 80 – 100 points per hour simply by helping out on their fights, if you fight as their Capo that’s an instant shot of experience.

97.) Experience and cash can be earned just by answering the call when someone asks for help in a mission.

98.) Never stop recruiting. Only 500 can help you on fights but a large mafia means big property income from Mafia Mike’s

99.) Gifting a great way to get some nice and needed items in return.

100.) Treat others in the game like you would want to be treated. I know that sounds kind of like a common sense thing but you would be surprised how many people forget that.

101.) Remember the game is great to play and can chew up hours if you are not careful. Remember to feed the animals, speak to your family, and occasionally go outside to see the sun.

There you have it 101 Mafia Wars Tips. Have fun gaming and watch out for the big jabroni with a piece one dark night.

A Basic Mafia Wars Guide In Easy Simple Steps

18
Aug/09
1

Mafia Wars is the hottest thing to hit the social networking scene in quite awhile. It seems that everyone is either playing it or has many friends that are.  Here is a quick and easy Mafia Wars guide that should help you get your level on and start kicking some butt.

Welcome to our Mafia Wars guide. If you want to breeze through the game in a few days this simple guide will give you the “no fluff, no bull” ticket.

Choosing Your Path

Three are three distinct character types that you can choose from>

  • Mogul – Earns more money from property
  • Maniac – Faster energy regeneration
  • Fearless – Faster health regeneration

Be careful when choosing your character type because at this time there is no way to switch classes once you have started, though there are rumors that Zynga may be offering that option in the future. There is discussion on the forums but nothing written in stone.

In this Mafia Wars Guide we will teach you the tricks of the trade and how to level quickly. Since energy equates into being able to do more jobs you might think that maniac is the way to go but that is where the vast majority of players make their first mistake. Yes Maniacs regenerate energy 40% faster than the other two types but in the long run energy is inconsequential.

We recommend that the Fearless type be chosen. Popular belief holds that fearless is the worst class to level and you may as well, but finish reading this Mafia Wars Guide before you decide.

On the “My Mafia” page players can designate their own top mafia members. There are six different slots that you can put members in to enhance your own character. One of those slots is Wheelman. This slot gives a bonus by reducing the energy cost of jobs. Fearless is the only type that can fill this position and the benefit of this is that occasionally you will be able to do a job for absolutely ZERO expenditure of energy. One of the basic ideas of this Mafia Wars Guide is that energy is irrelevant and the ability to do some wet work at no cost falls right into the scheme of things.

Getting Started

Chances are that if you are reading this guide you have already dabbled in Mafia Wars and are unhappy with the progress of your character. While there is no officially recognized means of changing character type there is a way around it. Unless you are very high in level, and you wouldn’t be reading this if you were, you can simply start a new account on the social network and start over

If you started over which I am sure many have. The first thing that you will need to do is start building that mafia. Since most people don’t have 500 real life friends much less that many playing Mafia Wars we will use some Guerilla tactics to get you up to 500 in about 24 hours

There is a huge amount of “add me” kind of pages on every social network and we will use them to explode your mafia list. Simply search for “mafia wars add me” within your network then pick the group with the largest number of members. Head over to their page and join up.

Next go into Mafia Wars and to your My Mafia page and copy the link that you can put on your status bar and put it in a notepad file and save it to desktop. Now, head back over to the group page that you just joined. Open up the member panel and get ready to start clicking. The easiest way that we have found is to open 10 – 20 members in a new tab each then click on the “add friend” button. Once the dialog pops up enter the link from you notepad file in the personal message section and click send. This will let them know you are looking for Mafia members and give them a link to join you. It is quite possible to get 500 or more members per day using this method.

There is a Javascript tool that will let you add all of these new members without using up you requests too. Its called Add All Friends v2.3 and can be found at echk.com/mw/.

Setting Up Your Mafia

Ok now that you are cranking at building you mafia we can get on to the next part of this Mafia Wars Guide.

You need to get your best members in the correct spots in the Top Mafia Section. Each job relies on different criteria.

  • Mastermind – (Maximum Bonus 11%)Character Type: N/A
    Max. Bonus – 11%
Determined by – Number of Completed Jobs
Number Needed for Max Bonus – 14999+
  • WheelmanCharacter Type: Fearless
    Max. Bonus – 11%
    Determined by – Player Level
Number Needed for Max Bonus – 299+
  • Button ManCharacter Type: N/A
    Max. Bonus – 11%
    Determined by – Player Level
Number Needed for Max Bonus – 299+
  • BodyguardCharacter Type: N/A

  • BagmanCharacter Type: Mogul
    Max. Bonus – 15%
    Determined by – Character Level
Number Needed for Max Bonus – 299+

If you get the top people in the top spots it makes leveling easier.

The next step is to get YOU in someone’s top mafia. You will not begin to enjoy the true benefit of doing jobs with the occasional zero energy cost until you get in the wheel man spot. The easiest way to do that is create a second account and use it to put your character in both the Wheel man and Mastermind spots.

This Mafia Wars Guide is designed to get you going as fast as possible to the top by showing you which character class is going to level the quickest and how to build and organize a mafia that given a little time will rank right up there with the best of them. There may be more to the game but this Mafia Wars Guide gives you the nuts and bolts of leveling quickly and being a valuable piece of anyone’s top mafia.

Mafia Wars Friends – Get Lots Of Friends And Build A Huge Mafia Wars Family Super Quick!

16
Aug/09
3

Mafia Wars friends are much like real world friends. In the real world if we are without friends we are alone and vulnerable and the same holds true for Mafia Wars friends. In a world filled with Mafioso there is no place to hide and no place to run and it truly is a dog eat dog world. There is only safety in numbers.

In Mafia Wars you can have as many friends as you like but only the first 501(you + 500 friends) at a battle count toward your offense and defense. Being that friends are so important it is imperative that you know how to build your mafia quickly. We are going to make it almost effortless for you, so sit back and read on.

There are many aspects of the game to learn when first getting your feet wet in Mafia wars. You need to learn about offense, defense, equipping your mafia and so on, but without a shadow of a doubt the most important thing that you need to learn is how to grow your Mafia Wars friends list as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The first concept that you need to get out of your head is that you should only invite members of your immediate circle of friends. Unless you personally have more than 500 friends who want to play the game you find yourself wearing concrete shoes and taking a stroll on the bottom of the East River on a regular basis. Mafia Wars friends for the most part are just that: Mafia Wars friends.

Try to think of it in the spirit of the game. If you were running an organized crime syndicate would every member of your family be your friend? Of course not, they are for the most part simply employees. You use them and they use you…it’s a two way street.

A little common sense advice here though, before inviting strangers into your circle it is always best to hide any personal information that you have on your social network page. They do not need to know where you live, your favorite this or that, and so on. Always protect yourself. Honestly if you are just thinking about starting the game our advice would be to start another account on your network and use it strictly for your Mafia Wars friends.

An Offer They Can’t Refuse

Building a list of Mafia Wars friends is much easier than you might think and there are a number of ways that you can do it. There are pages on all of the networks that fall into the “add me” category. On some of them you post on the site saying “Add Me” and link your Mafia Wars page link. Others are email sites. Usually someone starts a thread with their email and that of a few of their friends, then the next person copies those email addresses and sends add friend messages to them with their Mafia Wars Page link in it. They then place their email on the bottom of the list and paste it back onto the site.

I’ve previously discussed the email add approach in the Mafia Wars Add Me post, check that out for information on using bulk email lists to quickly get a huge mafia.

Another super fast way to get your Mafia Wars friends up to 500 or more per day, yes we said per day. You can have as many Mafia Wars friends as you want but just the top 501 can help you in battle. Everyone on the list over 501 is just a way to make more and more cash with Mafia Mikes and money is a good thing.

As we said earlier all social networks have add me pages. To find them all you have to do is search the network for “Mafia Wars Add Me” and you should be presented with quite a few. Once you do your search look for groups. Pages are ok but groups are the key. Find a group that is dedicated to Mafia Wars and has a large number of members. There are some that have literally hundreds of thousands of members. Once you have it picked out join the group.

Once you have joined follow this simple step by step list.

  1. Go to your Mafia Wars page and click on My Mafia
  2. If you have not done so already allow Mafia Wars to use your status bar.
  3. Copy the URL that is given for you to paste into your status bar
  4. Open notepad and paste the address in and save the file somewhere easily accessible.
  5. Open up the members panel on the page for the group that you joined
  6. Now start opening up the members profile 5 – 10 at a time in new tabs
  7. Go to each tab and click on the “add friend” button.
  8. Paste the link that you saved in the notepad text file to the personal message field
  9. Hit send
  10. Repeat this as many times as you like and your Mafia Wars friends list will explode.
  11. Go to echk.com/mw/ and drag Add All Friends V2.3 to your browser shortcuts bar.
  12. When people start accepting your friends invites you can go to My Mafia in the game and click Add All Friends and it will automatically add every name that appears in the box on the left without using your requests.

Now you know a number of methods to grow your Mafia Wars friends list. Add me sites are nice, but using the membership list of a huge group is the way to go.

Mafia Wars Achievements Guide

15
Aug/09
0

In this Mafia Wars Achievement Guide we will detail each achievement and their requirements. Achievements not only give you a pat on the back for doing a good job they also award a skill point for each that you can spend as you see fit.

Here are the achievements currently in Mafia Wars

Armed and Dangerous – This is a very easy achievement to earn just pick up 10 Tommy Guns. You really don’t have to work at this one since you will be buying the guns along the way since some jobs require more than 10 to be able to complete.

Banana Republic – This is a Cuba achievement and is earned by owning all 4 availabe business on the island. When you first get to Cuba you realize that the millions that you have stashed away in New York are worthless and it may seem that money is hard to come by at first. Don’t worry though you will be filthy rich in the Caribbean in no time.

Big Business – Fully upgrade a single business in Cuba to earn this achievement. Once again its not one to sweat as it will happed while you are working toward the International achievement.

Big Spender – Use reward points to earn this achievement. The easiest way is to level up and then buy “+4 Stat Points” for free or you could cough up some real world cash for them.

Bulletproof – Being wanted by the Feds, DEA, ATF or other government agencies is one thing but to have a hit put on you by the mob is another. You can earn Bulletproof by actually surviving on the hit list for over an hour.

This is probably the hardest achievement to unlock and you’ll probably have to be level 500+ and have nearly all your points in defense to be able to unlock it.

Cashing out – Earn this achievement by sell off 50 Mega Casinos. This does not have to be all at once. You can buy them one at a time and immediately resell them.

Collector – A simple and easy achievement to earn, all you have to do is vault one collection and DING…ya got it.

Crime C.E.O. - Another fairly easy one to earn. When you are setting up your top mafia you will earn this one easily because you always want to have the best people in every spot. Get all spots filled with players who are above level 100 to earn it.

Curator - Same as Collector but this time you have to vault at least 9 collections. If you get a huge mafia wars family of 5000+ you should have no trouble getting this as as soon as you share your wishlist it’ll be filled in seconds.

Dependable – It cant get much easier than this, all you have to do is complete a job per day for 7 days.

Getting the Crew Together – Once again Mafia Wars on easy mode, just promote friends to each top mafia position.

Giver – You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. Earn this one by gifting items to other players.

Havana Hat Trick - This Cuba based achievement is another easy one. Get to level 35 and head for the island. Complete one job tier for the achievement.

International – Earn 1 million Cuban Pesos. Money might seem scarce on the island but you illicit gains will start piling up fairly quickly. Fully upgraded business will give you this one in around 4 – 5 days.

Island Bound – An achievement for just clicking a button at level 35. Fly to Cuba.

Knife Thrower – Earn10 Butterfly Knives. Another one you don’t have to work at. You will get the knives as you level up.

Like a Hurricane – No you don’t have to spend an afternoon listening to the Scorpions, but you do have to win 1000 fights in Cuba. This one might take a bit of time.;

Mercenary – Help out 200 friends that call for backup. Just keep an eye on notifications and as soon as you see someone asking for help click away.

My Little Friend - Gift an M16A1 to a friend. Just keep doing “Transport a Shipment of US Arms” job in Cuba, it is on the El Capitan tier. Then send it off to a friend.

Napoleon Complex – Beat someone who has a bigger mafia than you do. Try doing this when you are very young. Someone who has 2 mafia when its just you are not that much tougher than you are.

Nest Egg – Deposit  $10,000,000,000,000. This is the hardest achievement that there is right now. It takes a long time to earn that much cash, even for Donald Trum

One Down – Easy, just finish one stage of jobs in New York.

Personal Bailout – Deposit $1 Billion to earn this one.

Personal Fleet – Earned by owning 500 Town Cars. You should never need this many town cars so the easiest way get this is just to buy them then sell them off as soon as you can replace them with better vehicles.

Slum Lord – Buy up 30 apartment complexes

Spreading it Around – Gift 501 items to your gang. This one isn’t hard but it does take some time to find that much stuff to hand out. The easiest way to do this is simply give away all your low level handguns / knives etc that you acquired in the early stages of new york to random people in your mafia family. Then if thats not quite enough give away some of your spare low level collection pieces to your family. You should have this unlocked in under an hour.

That’s Amore – Send a diamond ring to a player that is under level 8. Just sending it to an alt should suffice. If you’ve read the mafia wars black book you’ll probably already have 2 low level alts to give this to.

That’s with a “T” – Earned by depositing $1,000,000,000,000 and is the second most difficult achievement to get simply because it takes time to build up that kind of cash.

The Best Offense – Defeat 15 attackers in a row to earn this achievement. The easiest way to get this one is to have a buddy that is weaker than you are attack you until you get it.

The First is the Hardest – Earned by depositing $1,000,000. At first a million sounds like a butt load of money, but don’t worry you will have it quicker than you think.

Treasure Hunter – Earned by finding a rare item in a mystery crate Either save up reward points as you level or shell out some hard earned bucks for them. On a side note…the rare items are not that great either.

Tycoon – Fully upgrade all Cuban Businesses to become a Tycoon. Once you’ve done all the jobs in cuba you should have enough cash to complete this, if you’re powerlevelling wait until you’ve finished cuba but if you’re taking it slow the purchase and upgrade your businesses as you go.

Uncle Sam - Earned by owning 50 federal agents. You get these guys from the boss tier and “Buy off a Federal Agent”. The drop rate is not too bad but it still might take awhile to complete.

Unstoppable – Win 15 fights in a row and you will be unstoppable. Super easy again, just pick weaker targets and its yours.

What’s after Trillion? – Earned by depositing 999 Trillion Dollars. Work, work, work is all we can say. It’ll take a looong time to unlock this as very very few people have done it so far.

What else you got? – Achieved by mastering all the tiers in New York, can be done in 2 days using my mafia wars powerlevelling guide

Wing Man – Help out 10 friends who call for backup by keeping an eye on notifications and it will come before you know it.

Working Man – Earned by doing 20 jobs in one day. You should have this one within minutes of starting your character. The jobs can be the same job or different ones.

There you have our Mafia Wars Achievements Guide. Some achievements are a piece of cake to get and others are a bit tougher. Just keep chugging away and maybe you will actually learn what is after trillion :)

Vern’s Mafia Wars Tools – Kick Ass Tools To Win Mafia

31
Jul/09
1

Vern’s Mafia Wars Tools have been an incredible help in levelling from level 1 to 250 in just 2 days, without his bookmarklets it honestly would have taken a lot longer to do. Here’s a guide on what they are and how to use em.

Verns Mafia Wars Tools are simply bookmarklets which you put in your browsers bookmarks, then whenever you click on them they launch a function using javascript which instantly or automatically does something in Mafia Wars you’d normally have to spend minutes or even hours doing by hand. Each tool is different and each tool will make your Mafia Wars experience sooo much better.

ExpEnergy – This is actually at the bottom of the list but I put it at the top of mine because it is simply absolutely fantastic and is by far my favorite mafia wars tool ever. It is also absolutely 100% critical to have if you want to follow my Mafia Wars Levelling Guide. What it does is show the energy ratio you need to get to the next level. It also shows the energy ratio of every job you can do. What you then need to do is do jobs so you use up exactly all your energy for each level, without this tool it is very hard to tell exactly what jobs you need to do to level as efficiently as possible.

Add All – Another tool that I use all the time. What it does is adds all of your Facebook friends to your mafia, and doesn’t use any of your invitations (normally you only get 20ish invitations a day). It is critical to have if you are looking to get a mafia of 500 in under a week as normally you can only add 20 people to your mafia each day, with this you can add 5000 in a day if you like.

Attack Spree – This Tool allows you to attack a player over and over and over, using up all your stamina and showing you every fight you won or lost and what loot you got from each fight. It’s great when you have 30+ stamina as you can just go to a weak player, click the button and walk away from your PC or do something else for a few minutes, then come back later and see all the new exp and loot you’ve gained :) Saves a lot of time when you’d usually be pointlessly clicking in fights you can no do something else.

Attack Cuba – Same as above, just for cuba. Makes you return to new york to heal up cheaply when you get low on health (so you don’t waste your cuban peso’s on healing).

Do Jobs – Checks for open jobs amongst every single member of your Mafia. A Fantastic Tool when you want some free exp (as when you help someone with a job you get the exp but it costs 0 energy which is fantastic!)

Do Jobs FS – This bookmarklet is the same as above but uses the “friends who use mafia wars” search instead of going through your mafia (so you can help those who are your friends on facebook but not in your mafia :) )

Mafia Mikes – Automatically buys as many Mafia Mikes as you can, buying abandoned lots in lots of 10 when you run out. Keeps going until you can’t buy any more Mikes (caus you don’t have enough friends) or you don’t have enough cash.

Confirm All – Confirms all your pending friend requests – this plugin is a lifesaver when you’ve followed my post about mafia wars add me – get a mafia of 500 in days and get 100+ friend requests every single day. It simply confirms all the requests on the current page (which unfortunately is only 200 at a time) and is way better than clicking confirm 5000 times…

Free Bank – This Tool allows you to bank all your money without loosing the 10% cut the bank normally takes. It does this by banking your money $9 at a time. By the time you’ve played New York for a week (or 2 days if you use my mafia wars guide) you shouldn’t need this anymore as you’ll have so much money you don’t know what to do with it. But it is good for the early stages of cuba when pesos are rare.

To use these tools just click and drag them to your browser bookmarks bar and click on them at the right moment out of your bookmarks to use em.

That’s all from me today, enjoy using the bookmarklets and good luck dominating mafia wars :)

Mafia Wars Add Me – How To Get A Mafia Of 500+ In Days

31
Jul/09
15

So you’re looking to to build a huge mafia right? You don’t want these level 20’s with 500 mafia beating you down right, so what do you do? This article will teach you how to build a mafia of 500+ in mere days!

The biggest thing I’d say not to do is go around on the mafia wars message boards posting ‘add me’ ‘add me’. Simply put you’re wasting your time. Do you honestly go around on the message boards clicking on every single ‘add me’ link users post? There is a much faster and better way to build your mafia super quick, and it involves 2 quick and easy steps.

Step 1 – Getting a Ton Of Facebook Friends

The first step is to join mass email add groups. What happens in these groups is you post your email along with everyone elses emails to the thread, then the next person copies and pastes all the emails into their post, adding their own email at the end, rinse and repeat.

You should probably sign up for a new email and add that email to your facebook account for this method, as a lot of spammers are now using these lists to spam you with all sorts of offers, so don’t use your main email for this method.

To find one of these groups simply search for “mafia wars mass email” in facebook and you’ll come across hundreds. Then find the “Email Add” threads in each groups Discussion Board and copy and paste the last post in the thread, add your email onto the end and click post.

Then take that entire email list again (copy it) and in facebook go to Friends -> Invite Friends (up the top).  Paste that entire email list into the To: box and in the message box type “mafia wars add”. Then click the invite button.

What this has now done is told every single person on that list that you wish to be their facebook friend and you’ll start getting more friends immediately :D

Warning: Don’t ever invite more than 1 email list in any one day or facebook may ban your account for spamming. You have been warned!

Besides, there is a better way to go about getting friends to ADD YOU and therefore you will never be flagged as a spammer :) Simply go to about 10 – 20 of these email add groups and add your email to the end of the mass email add threads, then sit back and wait for tons and tons of players to add you, the more groups you add your email to the more invites you will get (I had about 100 friend requests A DAY using this strategy, got to 5000 friends very fast).

Step 2 – Getting All These Friends Into Your Mafia Instantly

You need to use an incredibly handy bookmarklet called “Add All” and you can find it at Bobby’s Heartrate Mafia Tools. All you do is drag the “Add All” button from that page to your book mark bar at the top of your web browser. Then log into facebook and go to your recruit page in mafia wars. After you are on that page click the bookmarklet you added to your browser and it will take care of the rest :) Adding all your friends to Mafia for you and not using up your daily invites – fantastic isn’t it! :D

That’s all you need to know to get a mafia of at least 500 in under a week, let me know if you have any questions and happy fighting!

- Phil
