Never Be Caught Short On Supplies In Mafia Wars Las Vegas Again

If you have been playing Mafia Wars for any length of time you understand the importance of consumables. Consumables are the bane of any serious leveler regardless of which expansion they are currently playing in.

There is nothing worse than having a full energy bar and being ready to kick some serious ass and then discovering that you do not have enough of the required consumables.

I am a Mafia Wars player and have been so since the game was in beta testing and have learned the importance of consumables the hard way. I have been in the example above quite a few times but I am bound and determined that you will not have to suffer from the same problem.

Here is a complete break down of the consumables that you will need to complete Mafia Wars Las Vegas.

Today’s article may not be a big long list of items, or discussion on jobs, districts, or loot, but the subject is one of the most important dilemmas in the game. If you are like me you want to level and complete things when you sit down to play.

In every expansion I have started building up consumable items by working on specific jobs when I have just a short time to play. Then when I have ample time I never have to go back and do jobs to grab consumables. You can do it my way or any way that you like but now you have all of the information regarding consumables in Las Vegas to help.

Mafia Wars Las Vegas – Vegas Like It Used To Be?

30
Aug/10

The newest addition to the Mafia Wars family is the Las Vegas expansion and it brings back a bit of nostalgia. For those of you who did not know, the mob ruled Las Vegas from the time it became a gambling destination until the 1980’s. In the 80’s the FBI cracked down and intensely focused on removing the mob from Sin City and it worked.

Today the mega-casinos of the strip are owned by giant corporations but if you have any knowledge of how these corporations work you might wonder if Las Vegas traded one mob for another.

Zynga has been hugely successful with their Mafia Wars game and it was inevitable that eventually the in game mob would arrive in Las Vegas. For those who may not be familiar with the history of the mob and the city, the game gives you a nostalgic yet far from accurate look back into history.

Mafia Wars Las Vegas brings brand new excitement to thousands of players. In Las Vegas you will find new features and new game mechanics.

· 5 Districts

The game will begin with five distinct districts where players work their way through the underworld. More districts are planned for the future.

· Random Loot

In previous expansions players had to complete certain jobs to find the loot that they are looking for. Las Vegas changes the picture in that loot from a district may be found by completing any job in the district.

· Job Trees

Job Trees are a welcome addition to the game. Instead of everyone following a single predetermined path players can choose from three separate paths including Energy, Fight, or Social. This feature allows players to follow the path that is the strength of their character.

· New Currency Converter

Mafia Wars Las Vegas introduces new currency in the form of Vegas Chips ($V). All purchases in the expansion use this currency but for the first time Zynga is allowing the conversion of other types of currency to Vegas Chips.

· New Fight Options

The new fight options include a Tournament, which allows players to compete for Victory Points. These points are used to purchase Fight Club items.

· Other features worth mentioning are new achievements and new free gifts.

Over the next week or two we will be digging deeply into the underworld of Mafia Wars Las Vegas and squeezing out every bit of information. When this series of articles is complete there is nothing that you will not know about Sin City.

What Features Would You Like To Have Added To Mafia Wars?

25

I know that many of you are like me in that you love playing Mafia Wars and have ideas that you think might improve the game. Today I am going to share some of the ideas that I think would enhance game play and I hope that you will leave comments sharing some of your ideas as well. Once we have put together a list of ideas I will be sending them to Zynga and posting them on the Mafia Wars Forums.

Here are some of the things that I personally thing could be added to the game to make it more fun and less frustrating at times.

Energy Roll Over

I think that if you reach the end of a level and do not use all of your energy it should roll over and be added to the new amount of energy you receive upon leveling up. If telephone companies can roll over minutes surely it would not be a big problem to do so in Mafia Wars.

12-Hour Stamina Packs

Stamina packs available every 12 hours would be great both for Mafia Wars players and Zynga as well. Think about this. If your business model is based on players buying Reward Points to monetize your game would it not make sense to bring them back every 12 hours instead of once per day?

Mafia Auction House

A feature that would allow players to place items up for sale not for real money but in game cash would be a wonderful addition. Nearly all MMO games have this feature and it develops a thriving player driven economy. If you want 1,000 Satellite Phones just buy them on the auction house. This feature would give players a way to equip their mafia and something to do with the billions of dollars that go to waste when an expansion is completed.

Foreign Exchange Center

When we travel to foreign lands in the real world we can simply visit an exchange center at our destination to exchange our currency for native currency. When we do this we pay a fee but have access to the common currency of the area. Why can we not do this in Mafia Wars?

Weekly Jobs

After a player has competed all of the expansions there is really nothing to do and many players become frustrated and either leave the game permanently or go into hiatus until a new expansion arrives. If Zynga wants to keep these players active and thus be able to earn income from them they need to come up with something for them to do. All they need to do is set up a special tier of missions that offer advanced rewards for loyal players. This tier or “hidden expansion” could offer special loot that does not upset the game balance but gives veteran players recognition for their loyalty.

These features would enhance the game for all. Tomorrow I will continue the list and at the end of the week I will condense all of our ideas and send them off to Zynga. If you have an idea please leave a comment or send me an email so I can get your ideas integrated into the message. Perhaps between us we can make Mafia Wars even more enjoyable.

Mafia Wars Marketplace – Fight Club

If you have looked at the Mafia Wars Marketplace lately you have no doubt come across the Fight Club Items. With Zynga being pretty closed mouthed about fight club it seems odd that they would be offering items for a feature that has not even made it to the live game yet.

Here is list of the items that are being offered for Fight Club.

The Cost column in this table represents cost in Victory Coins.

I find it rather disturbing that these items are being offered before the feature has entered live play. Call me old fashioned but I believe in getting what I pay for. While I am not saying that the folks at Zynga are dishonest stranger things have happened in gaming before. Take Sony’s Star Wars: Galaxies for instance and the fiasco that went on with the Mustafar expansion and the New Gaming Experience. In that situation many people paid for an expansion only to have the entire game changed about 2 weeks later.

Zynga thus far has given me no reason to thing that they are running something shady but I will save my money until the feature goes live then decide if I want to purchase.
