There have been many different kinds of crates available in Mafia Wars since the game emerged on the social network gaming scene. The newest version of the crate is the Armor Plated Crate.
Like all crates they are purchased from the Marketplace with Godfather Points (Reward Points). At the time of this writing the cost was 12 points for one crate or 35 points for three.
The chance of getting a each rarity is the same in both single and 3 crate purchases.
Common Item – 60%
Uncommon Item – 30%
Rare Item – 10%
You may be wondering if purchasing crates is worth blowing the Reward Points so I thought I would give you a list of all of the items that might be in each crate so you can make an informed decision.

My own personal opinion on crates is that the cost of the crate outweighs the benefit that might be gained by purchasing them, but there are those who have differing opinions. What it really boils down to is your own personal preference.

Throughout its existence the developers of Mafia Wars have offered various types of crates and with the announcement that animals will become their own type of item it only makes sense that Zynga would provide crates containing them.
Here are the particulars regarding the new crates.
Vicious Crates
10% Chance for a Rare item.
30% Chance for an Uncommon item.
60% Chance for a Common Item.
Like all crates you can purchase them in the market place. The price for the crates is 12 Reward Points for a single crate or 35 for three.

These animals are all that I have discovered thus far. Should I find any others the list will be updated.
If you are a collector of every item in the game then this is yet another way to spend your Reward Points. If you prefer to maximize leveling you should avoid them and use the points for more important things.
One thing I do like about Zynga is that they definitely keep things interesting in the game. When excitement begins to wane they come up with new items to keep us involved. I sure wish some of the online games would work that way.
Bangkok Crates Have Arrived

With the beginning of the Bangkok Beta the folks at Zynga have of course come up with new crates to spend your Godfather Points on. Crates can be a very quick way of getting your hands on some decent gear in a hurry but in most cases the items that you can get simply by playing the game is better.
The cost of these crates is
1 Bangkok Crate: 12 Reward Points
3 Bangkok Crates: 35 Reward Points
Each crate has the same odds for rare items
- 10% chance for Rare
- 30% chance for Uncommon
- 60% chance for Common

Some of these items are quite nice but as I said above you can get better just by completing jobs.
For those of you who love to collect things these crates give you even more items to add to your prized collection.
Super Stuffed Crates Are Now Available

I must admit that Zynga keeps the surprises coming when it comes to crates. We have had Yakuza Crates, Woodsman Crates, Wild West Crates and more. Recently Zynga has added Super Stuffed Crates.
If you have been playing Mafia Wars for any length of time you already know that one of the biggest pains in the butt in the game is gathering the consumables that are needed for some jobs. It never seems to fail that you run out of consumables before you complete a job requiring them and you have to back track to get more.
In the new Super Stuffed Crates Zynga has made it much easier. In these crates you can not only get an item but you also get consumables.
Like all crates the Super Stuffed version is purchased with Godfather (Reward) points. One crate will cost you 20 Godfather points and a package of three crates is sold for 55 points.
Super Stuffed Crates are guaranteed a 100% chance to give you 1 special item, 3 consumables, and 5 boosts in each and every crate. The special item is from the current crate set.

The boosts that you can get include

Personally I am not much on buying crates but if you are looking for a super fast way to get consumables and boosts they may be the way you want to go.
