History is laced with examples of a large group attacking a lesser force because they had the numerical advantage. A great example of this can be found in the movie 300. Even though the Persians took a bit of a beating at Thermopylae their greater numbers won out. It is the same to some extent in Mafia Wars

Building a large Mafia Wars friends list is an important factor in both surviving and excelling in the game. Your mafia members help you attack other players in general combat and on the hit list. They help you out when you are robbing another player. Most of all they help your out when you are defending against an attack.

Presently only 500 of your mafia may assist you when attacking or defending so you might think that having a Mafia Wars friends list of 500 would be enough. Technically it is but you mafia do much more than just help on the offense and defense. As you recruit more members you can expand your real estate empire with Mafia Mike’s. This is important because of all of the business or properties that you might own only Mafia Mike’s cannot be robbed.

Log into Facebook, Myspace, or whatever social network you are playing Mafia Wars on and do a search for “mafia wars add me” groups. You will find that there are actually two kinds of these groups.

The first consists of a wall of thousands of messages that have the phrase “add me” and hopefully a link to the poster’s mafia wars page. The idea here is that you will go down through the list and manually send out friend invites to each poster. This can be a bit tedious if you haven’t verified your account with a cell phone number. Typing the CAPTCHA information for a few thousand friend messages will make you pull your hair out.

The second type of group is my favorite. To get your invites taken care off all you have to do is look for a thread that says email add me list. The idea is that each person will copy the email list to the invite friends area of the social network and use it to send out mass invites. You copy the list then post it back as a reply with your email at the bottom. The next person does the same.

Either type of group that you decide to use can help grow your mafia to massive proportions in no time. Recently I did a test with a brand new character. I went to both type of group and spent a couple hours sending friends invites and emails out.
