Announcing Mafia Wars Italy
Oct/100
Zynga has been very good about giving us a trip around the world when playing Mafia Wars. Our trip started with New York and then when we need a vacation we can head off to Cuba. After we flexed our muscles on the beach we were off to the Russian winter in Moscow. Moscow got a bit cold, so Zynga thought we could use some tropical heat in Bangkok. We worked up a good sweat in Bangkok so we head off to Las Vegas for some party time. Soon we will be heading to the cradle of civilization for the mafia, Italy.
While the gang over at Zynga are being pretty closed mouthed about the new features that will be available in the new expansion we do know that we will have access to brand new properties and that we can build our own Italian Villa. It seems that we will be banging heads with the bosses of other rival families as well.
Since there isn’t much info out yet about Mafia Wars Italy we are going to give you a little background on the Italian Mafia. Its good to know those you are going to kill.
Italian Mafia Facts
- It is believed that the Mafia originated in the 19th century by some historians, others place it even further back in Italian history.
- The Italian Mafia is best known for traditional criminal activities such as extortion and protection rackets, but they also have their fingers in drugs, smuggling, kidnapping, people trafficking, prostitution, and much more.
- The Italian Mafia originated in Sicily.
- The term, “cosa nostra” translates to “our thing.”
- The Italian Mafia is broken down by city and by district. Each city has numerous districts controlled by distinct families.
- 28 Families control the City of Palermo alone.
- Certain types of crime are forbidden by the Italian Mafia including theft, burglary, mugging, and kidnapping.
- Prominent Mafiosi, living and dead include Vito Cascio Ferro, Calogero Vizzini, Giuseppe Genco Russo, Michele Navarra, Salvatore Greco, Gaetano Badalamenti, Angelo La Barbera, Luciano Leggio, Matteo Messina Denaro, and Giovanni Brusca.
With the upcoming expansion we should see the famous sites of Italy while we indulge or darker side and exercise our criminal muscle. Will we work with the major families or work against them? Will our criminal endeavors operate within the code of conduct of the Cosa Nostra or will we break all of the rules? Only time will tell.
